About Me

Hi, my name is Boisy Pitre. I live and work in Prairie Ronde, a rural community in Saint Landry Parish. My Acadian ancestors settled this area of south Louisiana around 1765 when Spain held the territory, over a decade before the American Revolution. Their descendants became Creoles, then Americans. I honor them by speaking their French and playing their music.

At the young age of 13, I saw my very first home computer, a TRS-80 Color Computer (aka CoCo). After that, my path was set. I knew instantly that I wanted to spend my time working with these wondrous machines.

Now, I get to do just that -- every day.

Linear and analytical thought. Sequencing. Mathematics. Logic.

Computing is my passion.
My first computer was a CoCo. Now, I champion all things Apple, and my coding platform of choice is the Mac.

Ham Radio

Ham radio is a fun hobby. It is also a gateway to learning about the magic of signal propagation and radio waves.

History / Genealogy

I study history.
My areas of interest include early American history and the Civil War. I also research and document my family genealogy.

Writing is my pastime.
I have several published books including Swift for Beginners and CoCo: The Colorful History of Tandy's Underdog Computer.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.

My Right Brain

Visualization. Imagination. Intuition. Arts.

Fiddle. Accordion. Guitar. Drums.
I express my creativity through writing and playing Louisiana French music with friends.

I enjoy cooking traditional French Creole and Cajun dishes. Round steak in a brown gravy with medium grain rice is my favorite.

Whenever possible, I volunteer my time for cultural causes, including boucheries and cooking demonstrations.
